When it comes to camping and adventure, Tasmania has many stones left unturned. Because of the literal disconnect between ‘Tassie’ (as the locals call it) and the rest of Australia, camping in Tasmania is not the most common Australian pastime. If you’re among the many experiencing this disconnect from our frequently forgotten state, you should rectify that. Tasmania is one of Australia’s most untapped camping resources.

Located in the heart of Mt Field National Park in Tasmania, the iconic Russell Falls is one of the most photographed waterfalls in Australia, and for good reason. The falls consist of two main drops and a segmented, vertical appearance. This majestic feature is also one of the easiest waterfalls to get to and is only an hour outside of Hobart, making it a great location for a day trip. The camping facilities within the park are equipped with  toilets, electric barbecues, kiosk and a visitor centre near the start of the track.
